Toward a New Trust: Cross-Sector Collaboration Against Corruption

Governments, business and civil society are at an integral crossroads. Amidst global corruption scandals and growing inequity, public trust in all big institutions is fading. Both public and private sector leaders can use this crucial moment to advance solutions to restoring integrity while shedding light on the challenges this process entails.

In partnership with Transparency International as part of the Concordia Summit, The B Team will host Toward a New Trust: Serving Public Interests Through Transparency and Integrity, a discussion with business and civic leaders and policymakers. Speakers at this event include His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, President of the Republic of Ghana, Sharan Burrow, Secretary General of the International Trade Union Confederation, Bob Collymore, CEO at Safaricom, Geoff Healy, Chief External Affairs Officer at BHP, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Former Coordinating Minister of the Economy & Minister of Finance, Nigeria, Pavlo Dmytrovych Petrenko, Minister of Justice of Ukraine, Paul Polman, CEO at Unilever and José Ugaz, Chair of Transparency International.

Speakers will assess the progress that’s been made by governments since the 2016 London Anti-Corruption Summit, discuss the role of business in preventing corruption and the opportunities that lie in cross-sector collaboration. Newly proposed legislation and enhanced resources indicate the growing momentum of the anti-corruption movement, but participants will also consider the factors that could impede these developments.

The discussion will take place on 19 September in New York City. Attendance at this event gives you exclusive access to all plenary sessions taking place at the Concordia Summit.
