The world of international development and international aid is often criticized for being slow and inefficient. The issues these programs try to address are often complex, and a solution that works in one place will most likely not work in a different setting.

However, the innovative use of technology is breaking down some of these barriers allowing proven solutions to be accessed by those communities and individuals that need it most around the world.In the most recent blog post produced by The B Team in partnership with Huffington Post, Courtenay Cabot Venton and Ellie Calhoun share how they worked to digitize a system of small scale microcredit programs called "self help groups" by developing a mobile phone application. This action has essentially democratized the tools needed for a development model, already seen as wildly successful at helping people and communities reach financial independence.
