September 10, 2026, New York: Last January, as conversation in Davos was intensely focused on artificial intelligence (AI), Alex Taylor used his platform to make a different argument: that the planet, not the AI race, is the era’s defining crisis. Today, The B Team announced that Taylor, Chairman and CEO of Cox Enterprises, has joined its group of global business and civil society leaders working to drive a prosperous future on a healthy planet for all.

He joins as the newest addition to The B Team’s group of more than 30 global business and civil society leaders, at a moment the organization says corporate leadership has rarely mattered more.

Taylor is a fourth-generation steward of Cox Enterprises, one of the largest privately held, family-owned companies in the United States, tracing back to his great-grandfather James M. Cox’s purchase of a single Dayton, Ohio newspaper in 1898. Taylor joined the company in 2000 and became CEO in 2018, and has since led Cox’s core businesses in industries including broadband and mobile, automotive marketplaces (Kelley Blue Book, Autotrader, Manheim), sustainable agriculture (Cox Farms) and journalism (Axios, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution).

In August 2026, Taylor was also appointed Chairman of the Board of Charter Communications following the completion of Charter’s transaction with Cox Communications, which created one of the largest mobile and broadband communications companies in the US. 

Under Taylor’s leadership, Cox has invested more than $3 billion in cleantech businesses, such as Cox Farms, a controlled environment agriculture business, and Nexus Circular, an advanced recycling company. He has also backed major conservation efforts, including helping protect the Okefenokee Swamp from mining and supporting a $100 million gift to help conserve North America’s prairie region. During his tenure as CEO, Cox has been recognized as one of America’s best employers by Forbes, a best workplace in technology from Fortune, and one of America’s Greenest Companies by Newsweek. 

Deeply engaged in civic affairs, he sits on the Atlanta Committee for Progress, where his work includes a focus on workforce development and public education, as well as several conservation boards.
