Michelle Lau-Burke is Manager of Business and Human Rights at the B Team. Prior to joining The B Team in March 2018, Michelle spent seven years at the United Nations Global Compact, most recently as programme manager on the human rights team, and prior to that as a consultant to its leadership initiatives. Michelle has extensive experience in convening dialogues and developing resources on business & human rights, including on implementing the UN Guiding Principles, tackling poverty and inequality, and respecting indigenous peoples’ rights. Earlier in hercareer, Michelle held roles in the CSR practice of a communications consultancy and as an ESG Analyst at Innovest (now MSCI). Michelle began her career as a social science analyst at the Congressional Research Service, where she authored a report on the role of US companies and internet censorship and surveillance in China.
Michelle holds a master’s degree in International Affairs from Columbia University and a bachelor’s degree from Brown University. Born in China and raised in California, Michelle now lives in Brooklyn with her family.
