Marks and Spencer and Oxfam: Schwopping

In partnership with Oxfam, Marks and Spencer have started an initiative called "Schwopping." This program adds to the circular economy by encouraging customers to give back their used and unwanted clothes to the clothing company, which are then donated to be resold online by Oxfam.

To date, nearly eight million garments have been 'schwopped' raising £5.5 million for the UK based charity.

The company hopes to 'schwop' as many garments as they sell (350 million a year), significantly reducing waste in landfills and providing them with a second life in the hands of a desiring person.
